New Intake Question: Self-reported Race and Ethnicity
Last June, while the nation and world engaged in anti-racist protests
and activism, MCPAP for Moms pledged to be an anti-racist program that
is working to address health inequities. As part of this work, we are
implementing program measures to evaluate who our providers are serving
by explicitly collecting information on the race and ethnicity of the
individuals our program serves. Beginning in February 2021, MCPAP for
Moms now includes self-reported race and ethnicity as part of the
demographic information gathered during our referral and consultation
process. When calling, we will be asking, “how does the patient
identify their race and/or ethnicity?” This will help us improve our
direct services and inform how our program as a whole can provide more
equitable care. To view our goals around racial equity, please see our Equity Pledge
